Compare These Ads (w/working video)

When I first saw this ad, for Campbell’s Chunky Soup, I thought that it looked familiar.

Fully Loaded Man (Campbell’s Soup) 2010

Then I remembered these two ads

Solo Man (Solo Lemon Soda 1986)

Solo Man (Solo Lemon Soda) 1990

See the similarities? I sure do. I love it. This is so typical of Australian advertising and our love of “taking the piss” (sending up) a popular theme.

About megleigh

When not busy writing, Meg Leigh spends her time tending to the most pampered flock of chickens on Australia’s east coast. She would really like to have dragons, but has settled for chickens because they come pretty close. If you need proof of this, try offering a flock of chickens raw meat! (Meg would like to advise she accepts no liability for loss of fingers!) Meg also enjoys reading, keeping fit with her bunch of madcap mates at the local park, and spending time with her adult offspring whenever their schedules allow.

I’m not seeing anything but text. [squint] Did something glitch?

LOL! I love the Evel-Knievel dude in the first one too. It cracks me up that that particular piece of American Crack penetrated down to Australia. 😀

And yes, the shout-out in the third one back to the first one was fun, heh. I’m wondering whether they got the same stunt-dude to do it? Whoever he/they was/were, he/they was/were hot. 😉

I think they’re both pretty cute, too. As one of my friends suggested — Solo Man/Fully Loaded Man! OTP! LOL

Yes we caught the Evel-Knievel craze down here in a big way.

There you go — someone needs to write fanfic for these dudes. Maybe their kayaks crash into each other as they’re sliding down adjoining slopes or something. 😀
